New Entry  by: Bro. Buddy Ganus --04:35:41 PM

Nineteen members at our first meeting of this Masonic Year. Not a bad way to get things started. All in all the meeting went well. We voted to accept the transfer of another new Brother and are awaiting his Lodge's response. We also received two new Petitions for The Mysteries Of Masonry and look forward to getting our reports back on them. We have several Brothers who need our prayers, and our hearts go out to the Stanford family for the sudden loss of Brother Arlice's nephew.

We started a couple of new things for our Lodge this year, and the Brethren seemed to be excited and showed a great willingness to participate. The first of these new events is a Masonic Treasure Hunt For Truth. The Brothers are given a question to answer which leads them to a part of the Lodge in order to find a hidden clue. After the clue is found they must figure out the answer to that in order to complete a form they were given. The questions and clues all have to do with some part of the first three degree rituals, the constitution and edicts, the history of Masonry or the Lodge's by-laws. The second event is the Master's Challenge. The Master drew the name of three of the Brothers present and called them to the altar to pick a number. The number they picked corresponded with a number of questions prepared by the Master. After drawing the question, the members must return at our next stated meeting to give a 3-5 minute answer in open lodge. Again, this is all about the history, rules, and rituals of Masonry. It should be interesting to hear their answers. The Brothers whose names where drawn this week where Ed Oglsby, who will report on Article 5 and 9 of the Lodge's by-laws and what part of the constitution and edicts they relate to; Mike Wood, who will explain how the Middle Door is passed; and Mike Stanford, who will report on the dimensions of King Solomon's temple, how many workman it took, and their rank.

Again this year is off to a great start and we look forward to many more exciting events and meetings to come. In case you were not there, you missed out on the fellowship and fun, not to mention some delicious refreshments provided by our Treasurer, Brother Pete Williams, and his wife Lucy -- homemade lasagna, which was outstanding.

Thank you all and I look forward to meeting with you soon.

Respectfully submitted and at you service,

Carey T. Ganus WM 2008-2009

New Entry  by: Bro. Buddy Ganus --02:12:15 PM

To the Brothers of Pleasant Grove Lodge #909:

As you all know, the end of another Masonic year is upon us. Though it is sad that it has passed so quickly, being part of such a wonderful and productive year has been a joy. We have an abundance of new blood in our lodge who have hit the ground running and are anxious to learn. I consider myself to be one of them. We hope to see all of you on a regular basis. There is much we can learn from each other and the teachings of our great craft.

Celebrating our Loge's 50th year was quite an accomplishment. We owe a great debt to all of those members who began our Lodge and also those remaining members who sustain the traditions. Our past is the foundation of our future, and in this day and age we must press onward to secure our success over the next 50 years. In order for our journey to be successful and to assure the continued growth of Pleasant Grove Lodge #909, we will rely on these members to be instrumental.

On Friday, July 11, 2008, we installed officers for the upcoming year. We are very excited about what these officers have planned for our Lodge and are looking forward to many events, such as the return of our 5th Monday family dinners. In the Masonic tradition of making those around us and the world a better place, we will host a number of events to raise money for those in need. We will also bring attention to many charitable organizations in hopes of assisting them in their purposes. This is our obligation as Masons.

May the Grand Architect of the Universe guide and protect us all throughout our days here together.

Fraternally at your service.
